Chewing on things like pens, pencils or fingernails can damage your braces too.

Cleaning your teeth and braces

Cleaning your teeth is more important than ever to avoid the accumulation of food between small nooks and crannies created by bonded brackets. Food and plague can make your teeth stain if dental care isn’t good. Take enough time to brush thoroughly using fluoride toothpaste. Use special brush for braces or dental floss regularly to clean your braces after meals or even after snacking. Additionally, you should use medicated mouthwash after each brushing in order to remove food particles and bacteria from dental braces. While brushing your teeth, be carefully and gentle so that brush would not damage the braces.
