Anger – Causes And Treatments
Busy life with lots of thing to worry makes people lose their temper easily, particularly women. Let’s find out the reasons why we lose our control.
Main causes of anger
Nowadays, most people choose to communicate with others via email, message and social networks like Facebook, Twitter and My space. These means of communication somehow lead to emotional stress as you cannot show your feelings immediately.
Dr Michael Potegal, also known as Professor at Minnesota University states that: “Electronic means of communication reduce our conditioned reflex whenever we want to show angry feelings”. When you show your anger by typing, we have difficulties in expressing your emotions. The main cause is that you can’t see your partner’s reaction, can’t read his/her body language and can’t even hear your partner’s voice. It therefore naturally plays as communication barrier.
Dr Scott Wetzler, a psychologist working at Montefiore Center in New York calls one-way emotional expression “a way to release your own feelings”. Sending email or sms respectively makes you forget your partner’s presence; you therefore lose your temper. Many people find it hard to figure out what they should think and what they should say while they are typing, especially when their argument reaches to nothing.
According to study conducted by Minnesota professors, people who usually communicate with others through cell phone get the higher risk factor of anger accumulation than cell phone non-users. You may have troubles about sound quality or pause as making a phone call or even sending a message. These problems easily lead to misunderstanding, in some worse cases; it even leads to hurt feelings and conflicts. The interesting thing is it’s difficult for women to overcome than men. Women usually think about what happened in the past and stuck in angry situation far longer than men do.
Luckily, you can definitely control your own temper. What matters is not the way you hide your feelings, it’s the way you convey your anger. Try to learn the right way to show your aggression properly and responsibly. It therefore the helpful tip for an enjoyable and happy life.
How to treat your anger
Turn off TV
According to recent research conducted by scientists at Maryland University, people who choose to read information instead of spending hours watching TV are more likely to enjoy optimistic and happy life than those prefer to watch TV.
Increase face to face communication
Whenever conflicts come out, what you should do is to save your emails or messages and plan a meeting to see your partner in person. Remember to always stay calm and avoid as less conflict as possible.
Take a deep breath
Do not reply email or message immediately. Take a deep breath first, and then call your partner back when you take your control back.
Get enough sleep
Anger is a symptom of insomnia. Getting enough sleep helps to control your feelings and boost your verbal ability as well.
Do exercise
Scientists reveal that chemical properties produced during anger bring you uncomfortable feelings. In that case, you should do some basic exercises. If possible, go to gyms. These moves help reduce stress and also open up your soul.
